Part 1: Common Mistakes in Creating a Website

More and more, healers and therapists are using their websites to promote and increase their business. Thus, having a successful website can be a huge plus. Over the last year I save viewed thousands of websites promoting healing work. And yet, I believe that you would be surprised at how many of these websites have no way to contact the healer or therapist. No phone number, or email address or street address. Many other websites make finding this information very difficult even though it is there. I have seen websites where the contact information is at the bottom of a very long page of information or imbedded in the middle of such a long page. While other websites have many pages without any of these pages specifying which is the contact information. Others will have a contact page link, but there are twenty or thirty page links that a potential client must scroll down in order to find the contact information to contact the healer or therapist.
Thus I have listed below what I think are the most important features to have a successful website to promote your healing work:

1) Make your contact information prominent and easy to see and read. Your contact information is the most important part of your website. Without it you will receive no business from the site. I suggest you have your name, phone number email address and city and state at the top left or right side of your website. If you accept walk in traffic, you will want your street address there also. You may wonder about the city and state. However, if someone is going to google healers in your area, the search engines will need to have the city and state to locate you. If you do not want your contact information on the main page, at least have your contact link at the top of you page links. I also suggest that your name is clearly prominent if you are an individual healer or therapist. It is your name that you will want potential clients to think of first. Not an impersonal business name unless your business is a group center.
2) Make your information easy to read. If you make it too small, your potential clients may not see it easily. Some of these potential clients may have eye problems. Also I suggest using strong contrasts of print. If your print is a light color on light background, it will be difficult to read. Those with some partial or full color blindness may not see print at all under these conditions. Certainly black print on light background or white print on dark background are the easiest to see. I have seen many websites that have very difficult to read print because of the color and contrast of the print. Also make sure the print is large enough for everyone to read. Appeal to everyone, not just those with perfect vision. A beautiful website does not result in new clients if the message is unable to be read.
3) Make the content simple. Websites that have an abundance of information on the main page will overwhelm the potential client, sending them off to another website. It is much better to have a small amount of pertinent information on the main page, with links to other pages with the additional information that you think will be helpful to the potential client.

I suggest that you view a number of different websites to get an idea of what you think would attract clients to your business.
